Research shows that regular attendance leads to success in school. If a student is going to be absent, a parent or guardian must phone (604-594-0491) or email (burnsview@deltaschools.ca) and let our office staff know the student’s name, grade, reason for absence and length of possible absence. The office must be notified in order for the absence to be excused in the attendance system.
Students who arrive at school any time during the day after 8:30 a.m. must report to the office to sign in and receive a late slip. A note or phone call from a parent must explain the late arrival.
Students who must leave the school during the day, including illness, medical or other appointments, must have pre-approval from their parent or guardian in the form of a note, phone call or email to the school office. If a student is to be dismissed part way through a class, the parent/guardian must contact the office prior to the start of the class or the student will not be permitted to leave.
If a student has an unexcused absence, the parent/guardian will be notified by email.
