Research shows that regular attendance leads to success in school and is a legal requirement for all BC students below sixteen years of age. If a student is going to be absent, a parent or guardian must phone (604-594-0491) or email (email@example.com) and let our office staff know the student’s name, grade, reason for absence and length of possible absence. The office must be notified in order for the absence to be excused in the computer system.
Students who arrive at school any time during the day after 8:30 a.m. and before 8:45 may report directly to class. Those arriving after 8:45 must report to the office to sign in and receive a late slip. A note or phone call from a parent must explain the late arrival.
Students who must leave the school during the day, including medical or other appointments, are to report to the office in the morning with a note from their parent/guardian. The student will receive an early dismissal slip which should be presented to the teacher of the class they are to be dismissed from. If a student becomes ill and needs to go home, a parent must be contacted before the student leaves the building.
If a student has an unexcused absence, the parent/guardian will be notified by email.
